I know I've read posts about this but search function keeps timing out for me. Friend filed a dispute with Equifax on July 29 and also about 3 weeks ago. He just got a letter last week and asking for proof of his current address and identity etc. Should he send him this info? What should he send? Also, this was sent on Aug. 28 from Equifax. They never responded to the July 29 letter. Items from the 2nd dispute letter are marked in dispute. Any advice on next steps with them?
Sending proof that he is in fact him is fine. Just don't send anything else. Send them a copy of his DL, SS card, and a utility bill with all the account information blacked out...just address and name. That should suffice. -Peace, Dave
I would send the proof, but I would also send a letter with it demanding they delete every item disputed in July as they waited til 30 days was up to send the request. Big violation.
