EQ-Under investigation or not? Help

I sent in a letter to EQ disputing a public record. For the record, it was reporting incorrectly, but it is mine. I mailed the letter 6/4. The bk showed "reinvestigation in process" beginning 6/10. I have credit watch, and I pulled it several times between 6/4 & 6/10. So, now my 30 day clock is running. On day 31, it was still running. I went on vacation. I figured I would deal with it when we got back. We returned from our trip 12 days later. Guess what? It was still "under investigation." I called CSC and said "your time is up!" The rep very quickly told me that the bk was never under investigation at all. In fact, they had simply forgotten to remove the tag line from a prior investigation. Also, I was told that I had disputed the bk 5 times this year. I asked for a supervisor who very eloquently told me the same thing. I don't doubt that they did not do an investigation. I am sure they didn't. Did they ever begin the process necessary to start an investigation? I feel sure they did. Someone dropped the ball. My score went up dramatically on the 10th as it always does with items under dispute. After my phone call, they removed the "reinvestigation in process" tag line. My score dropped. The supervisor said that they had no dealings with scoring, and she did not deny that the score would act the same way in a bona fide investigation or under the circumstances of forgetting to remove the tag line. Either way, don't they have to delete this? How am I going to force them to do it short of a lawsuit? I am sick of filing lawsuits!

Please let me know what you all think!

    Bump

Can someone add some insight into this? It seemed pretty clear cut to me at first, then I talked myself out of my own argument!

Don't have any advice. I just wanted to thank you for your scores. I'm just beginning my "real" quest thanks to this board and people like you. I have hope.

Good luck, Melissa. I wish you well in your journey. Just remember.... when you want to give up, remember to look back at how far you have come. You will do that over and over and over again in the coming months. For us, it was always one deletion at a time, slow but steady. Good luck and keep us informed!
