My score on 5/1 was 601 on Equifax Credit Watch/Beacon score.

I have several disputes (5) in progress, filed over phone today <<<yes, I did actually get a real person at CSC Credit Services, Houston TX, since they handle my zip and I can't dispute online with Credit watch. >>>
rep very nice, we'll see what happens

Disputes all have to do with inaccuracies on the way the BK is listed except one dispute related to my Mortgage.

{{{ And a really nice person at Country wide agreed yesterday to delete a 30 day late in feb2002 (so that one will definitely stay off, I was trying to do auto Bank draft and it didn't work ) }}} now I am set up to pay online.

major glitch on all CR's is Chap13 BK filed in '96 and discharged in 2000. also have a %$#@! collection account for $80, but that is stuff for another thread...

TO THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS < sorry for being so longwinded, I write like I talk, should have been a lawyer or politician, I think >>>

My EQ score just now is 681. Wow !!! I was at 525 when I started a year ago.

I desperately need to get better auto rate than "Farmers bottom of the 3groups" rate.

Does anyone know of an insurer for TX that uses Equifax Beacon in its scoring for consumer insurance ? need this information desperately...any legit company would be better than the rate I have now...clean driving record since 1997, no tickets/wrecks/one fender bender in 96 and a bk in 96, too

Also, since BK, I do not have any, and I do mean any credit cards, only a debit card. Should I apply for something now? if so what and where? will this score stay there long enough to get something?

    need some advice asap please

To have a good score it is always a good idea to have at least one credit card. With a Beacon score of 681 you can get a normal credit card. If you just want to apply for one you should be assured of getting I would go for a Target signature card, or a gas credit card. Check out http://www.cardoffers.com. If you apply right now getting a card may drop you score 3 to six points for a month or so. If you are going to switch insurance carriers, I would switch first, then get a credit card.

As far as auto insurance in Texas goes, I am not sure. I have herd Progressive may be better.

Good luck. Let us here if you get a better rate.

Don't buy from an insurer that sets rates by a credit report .It's a scam.
