I have collection on my report that's over 6 years old. It's only been reported once and never updated. I disputed it and EQ updated it as:

    Status: X-Checked

What does that mean? They also updated the report date. What's the deal? And, my score went up from this!

I have a feeling that they didn't get in contact with anyone. This is my last negative on their report and I believe they are just holding on for dear life, because that entry only has 9 months to live. I think that Equifax believes that because it will be gone in less than a year that if they push back on me like this, I will just let it stay.

    They're so wrong.

What do you recommend that I do next here? Continuing with EQ or go the validation route? The debt is definitely pass SOL so I'm not concerned about dealing with the CA directly.

Here's a possible solution - if TU and EXP are both good and Equifax is the problem - sue Equifax.

EFX will block all access to your file - to you and to any potential creditor until the suit is resolved. If a potential creditor can't see the file they can't see the derog. Hopefully, if EFX comes back with no record they will pull a different CRA and see a stellar, ding-free file.
