Hello, I have a problem. Cox sent my accounts over to Equidata.....I called Cox and told them I would pay the bills if they took back the accounts. Cox agreed. I have paid COX on all three accounts.....the accounts are paid off....I paid Cox not Equidata.....I have never even spoken to anyone at Equidata. Now on my Credit Report Equidata has all three accounts as paid. Why do they have it as paid when I have not paid them? I have disputed the accounts with the the three credit reporting agencies. Today it came back as the debt is Verified. My question is...what steps do I take to get this removed because it is inaccurate.
Unless you have the agreement in writing with Cox, you basically have no legal grounds to stand on. BTW - it is reporting accurately unless you previously disputed the debt with the CA.
I would dispute the data with the creditor as it is not accurate infomration as you did not pay them but the original creditor. You cannot file a dispute with a creditor. You can dispute via the CRA. However, sans an agreement with Cox to tell their CA to not report then it is reporting accurately. The OP should look at each data field to ensure there is 100% accuracy. If not, then file a dispute based on the inaccurate data filed.
