I think that you are right about EQ being broken. My Privista score updated today and went down 42 points. The thing is though, nothing at all had changed on my credit report. Not balances, inqs, neg info, nothing. Go figure.
George, I get that same message once in a while. It usually takes 12-24 hours before I can get back on, and then there has usually been some significant change. I think they just don't give you access while they are updating your report. Or maybe they have to shut down every once in a while to let the random number generator cool down...
I have information from a reputable source that the random number generator is liquid cooled and can run continuosly without heat build-up problems. There must be another reason why equifax isn't working...
