Does anyone have any experience with disputes with Equifax? I recently disputed several items on my report. Got a letter today saying that they contacted each source and investigation in now complete. All I see they did was add a line on each disputed item. Consumer disputes-reinvestigation in process. The one I was most concerned with was a charge off that is still showing an open balance. (Was paid in '96). The duplicate of this account was to be removed but is now a paid as agreed account. The open balace does not show that I disputed this acct. How should I go about this now? Obviously they didn't verify as the date last reported was 8/96. I have also been in contact with the creditor, I explained what was going on with this,included copies of the reports, asked for original loan doc. I got a one sentence letter back. The status of this account has a 0 balance. Can anyone help me with this? Should I dispute again, how long should I wait? Or should I go ahead and do it now?
