I have started the process of starting our credit life over with online disputes. We received bad news of verification from both Transunion and Experian on our disputes. Both of our Equifax disputes were done on February 1st and we still have not recieved any word from them. What should be our next move with them? If I have understood most of the posts I have read, they are in violation and should remove the TLS that we disputed. Right? Thanks in advance for everyone's help.
Were you disputing based on a credit report obtained under the free annual credit report requirement of FACTA? If so, they have 45 days, not 30 days, so at 55 days, you are just reaching the time they might be considered late.
Send them a letter, CRRR, notifying them of when you sent them the on-line dispute, that you have not received the results from their investigation within 45 days of your dispute as required by law, and that if they cannot verify the disputed information, they must delete it. They may delete it, if they haven't been able to verify with the Data Furnisher (DF). Or they may send you the results of their "investigation", either modifying the TL, or leaving it unchanged. If they leave the TL on your reports, you can request the procedures they used to verify. Or you can dispute (under FACTA) with the DF who posted the TL. If the DF continues to post erroneous damaging information, as confirmed by the CRA, you may have to sue them to get it removed.
