Hi all! So it will be 30 days (tomorrow) that I have sent a dispute to Equifax regarding my apartment complex drama. I have the certified mail receipt. I also printed out the documentation from usps showing when they received it. Should I fire off a letter to send Monday asking for deletion? If so, what should I include ? Pretty excited about all of this...
None yet. I thought about waiting to see if Equifax will delete it because it was after the 30 days before opening a can of worms.
I see...I would frankly wait a bit longer to see if you still hear back from Equifax with the results of your dispute. What date did they receive your dispute?
Hey Joshua! So I sent it out on Monday, July 19th. It will likely take 3-4 days to get to them. I will let everyone know of the updates!
Yes this is correct. I have still heard nothing .The letter I sent basically said it has been 30 days, you need to delete this. I sent this certified as well.
I actually did multiple disputes at one time and found that they will overlook a lot of things if you don't dispute them one at a time. I did it all online with TU & Equifax and TU was easy as pie! Equifax on the other hand took more time but finally removed all that I found that were faulty. EX I had to do actual snail mail but they also were easy to deal with!
I see. You may want to submit a formal complaint to the CFPB as well: CFPB Complaint Assistant Look forward to hearing a positive update from you on this!
Adogg, my approach is the more they miss, the more they have to pay. It's up to them to make sure that they address every single tradeline which is disputed, and if they miss one, they had better enclose a $1,000.00 check with the results letter, because otherwise, I'll make sure that they send one later.
Update! So I received a response from Equifax FINALLY--via EMAIL. Wtf? I've never provided them with my email, and I have done all of my correspondence via cert. mail. Their response stated that they will begin a re-investigation, and this could take up to thirty days. In short, they have received my dispute. They did not respond in thirty days. I sent out a second letter certified as well, saying to remove it since it's been thirty days. They just responded with an email two days ago saying the above. I'm so confused. What should my next plan of attack be?
It's strange that they emailed you considering you've never provided your email. They must've had it in their system for some reason. Maybe a previous online dispute or something? You can respond and make the argument again that legally they must remove the tradeline, and you can also file a complaint with the FTC/CFPB.
It's extremely strange. Ive never filed a dispute online with equifax...maybe it is somehow associated with my social security number?
Jam's right. That's probably why Equifax has your email. Your SSN shouldn't be associated with any email address, but if you have pulled an online credit report at any time in the past then that's why they have it.
Yes..this. I did pull a report. I wonder bow this affects things because I have done everything via mail.
I recommend continuing your communication with Equifax via mail so you can track when they receive things. I wouldn't respond to the email directly.
