I just received a letter from one of my three Good standing credit cards stating that I had disputed the account with a CRA. Well, it must be Equifax since that is the only one that has received my letter so far and I know I did not dispute that account because I have a copy of the letter I sent. I didn't put that number on there. I can clear this up just fine with my credit card but I am furious. What kind of recourse do I have for this type of error? Who do I complain to? Can't they read? It is frightening to think that these people are in charge of my entire credit life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! B
You can hope the account that you did dispute didn't get marked as in dispute Then in 30+ days when you get the new copy of your cr, you can send them a letter that says "hey you didn't dispute xyz account, and your 30 days are up please delete".
I think I would be more proactive on this one. I would call the CRA and explain what the OC said to you, and that there was no dispute of that account. If the CRA does for some reason delete that good account you will have a difficult if not impossible time getting it back on.
