Working on a friend's reports. She had: -10 good accounts, -12 collections, -9 charge offs and -10 accounts with late pays. Most of the accounts are not hers. Round one. We disputed: -2 good accounts (they are not hers), -11 collection accounts, -4 charge offs and -6 accounts with late pays. What was deleted: -3 collection accounts, -4 accounts with late pays. They verified: -1 collection account -1 charge off They did not even acknowledge 14 of the other accounts that were disputed. One of the accounts were with Risk Management Alternatives, which is affiliated with Equifax, so they ignore disputes concerning that company, just like they did with another friend's report I am working on. I am surprised they did not delete the disputed 'good' accounts without verifying just to be spiteful. How should I proceed? Should I redispute the 'ignored' accounts or remind them that since they were not able to verify within the 30 days allowed by the FCRA they have no other option but to delete at this point?
Wait a sec, you disputed 23 ITEMS at one time?!?! I thought the rule was 2-3 MAX....am I missing something here?!?! DB
A majority of them are not hers. So there was no fear in being labeled frivolous. If they do, off to court we go (if my friend is willing). A few were duplicates.
I tried 20+ they stopped at #2 They were just "COSMETIC" fixes... More than 5 they will call FRIVOLOUS...(even if they are TRUE)
There is no "rule", but I guarantee you disputing 23 at one time is going to get your disputes listed as frivolous and get you listed as someone trying credit "repair". I would never dispute more than 4 at one time.
Pretend that you were a consumer that knew nothing about credit repair, never had credit issues, etc. and you suddenly had tons of accounts on your report that were not yours. Would you care about being labeled frivilous? Now that I think about it, you probably wouldnt know of the 'frivolous' thing. You would not give a care, just as long as you got the mess straightened out.
I've disputed anywhere from 5-15 items at once and they've always investigated. So far, I have not had a case where any CRA refused to dispute anything that hasn't already been disputed twice. I guess that means I have not yet been labled frivolous.
