Our local credit servicer just sold all of their files back to Equifax, so we can now dispute our Equifax files online where before it had us mail them to a local Credit Company. I disputed the things I needed to dispute and I didn't notice a change in score at all? Doesn't matter that much to me, but was just wondering if this is supposed to work for everyone or just people in a certain area? I am only worried that my updated score will not change even if all items are corrected. Who knows!?!?
My score went up 68 points when I disputed 4 or 5 things. I also disputed 12 on DH's report and his score didn't change at all. I really think that it is a random thing. It may have something to do with the age of the accounts. The older negatives do not have as much impact on score as newer ones do. paw67
My score went up 40 points when I disputed my last neg item, and it's a six years old $77 charge off.
Do banks that pull the reports see the accounts in dispute or are they held off the report until the dispute is settled?
Yes, that's what I believe from personal experience. I doubt anyone looks at your report. It's usually a computer making all the decisions.
