How can you tell whether an inquiry on Equifax online is a hard one or not. There is an inquiry on friend's report as of today that says nctde-Sprint Long Distance. Trying to figure out if it's hard or soft. Thanks

I am not sure George. That is the National Telecommunications Data base the Equifax uses. Phone companies report to that. But George you are usually always right so I will side with you on this one too.

Ok...did some further investigation and it turns out it is a hard inquiry so now I'm confused! Why would Sprint LD pull a hard when he has had his account since start of June. They actually never pulled a hard inquiry then though. Verizon did but not Sprint. This credit thing is so confusing!!

I have heard that recently all wireless carriers have started pulling out credit reports of its consumers which they haven't done for years. But they still have signed copies of our agreement for a credit check. However, I am unsure if there are any timeframe restrictions for them to pull that report from the date it was signed.

But it's not Sprint PCS..it's not wireless. It's Sprint LD ..tied to his home phone.

If it as any code in front of it on an Equifax report it is a soft inquiry...

DTC, AR, CD, EU, PRM and the others..

it was probably an account review of some sort or for a promotional offer..

VERIZON PULLED A "HARD" ON ME WHEN I CHANGED FROM MCI...I used "BUMPAGE" to make it go BYE BYE!!!

What is REALLY STUPID about pulling a HARD...is I use about $20.00/year in LONG DISTANCE since I get "FREE" SATURDAY and SUNDAY on my CELLPHONE...

    TELECOM Database....

It STARTED AS an ATT database....
and at the time, ATT had their own credit - not using the bureaus.

1 was either excellent or bad/ 4 the opposite.
When a customer called, the 1-4 number was displayed on each screen.

WHEN they divested, all the companies had no knowledge of credit of new customers - and they moved over to pulling bureau reports.

YOU MAY WANT TO ASK - when switching LD companies - IF THEY PULL CREDIT.

ATT did a soft on me when I switched back from Sprint.

    Re: TELECOM Database....

To get $0.05 and $0.09 I had to do it ON-LINE...

I ASSUMED they were going to bill my "LOCAL"...but they didn't...(and I can't pay by credit card like I can with my "LOCAL")

    Update...

When I called Sprint on behalf of my friend they told me they pulled the Hard b/c of the service he got in June. (Ok..3 months later??)

Anyway, when HE called they told him they pulled a hard inquiry b/c he made an international call and didn't have international call service.

SO!!!! MADE AN INTERNATIONAL CALL...WAS THAT WORTH 3 INQUIRES???

They could have billed for it IMMEDIATELY...

Pulling credit reports has GOT OUT OF HAND!!!

    Re: Sprint Inquiry

I don't know if they pulled all 3 but it IS kinda ridiculous. I never even knew that signing up for an international call plan was different than signing up for LD. I mean..aren't international calls LD too!!! :)

I signed up ON-LINE for VERIZON...I'm sure it asked the same question...
