I am not sure what to do now. I have a bogus credit card debt on my Equifax cr. The value has changed from $300 to $6600.00 past due. I have tried 4 times to have it removed through equifax. It won't budge, so I sent a letter to the credit card company. They sent me back a letter stating they did not put anything on my cr and I should just dispute it. I thought about sending another letter w/a copy of their letter. What is the best way to finally get this off?

    Thanks,
    Michelle

You already have disputed it, to no effect.

Since the CRA has "verified" that the information is "correct", you can assume that the CC company did post it. The CC company is responsible for getting it removed.

Similarly, since the CC company has sent you a letter indicating that they are not posting anything, you can assume that the CRA did not "verify" anything. The CRA is responsible for getting it removed.

Send letters to each, with copy of letter/report from the other, notifying each party that they are reporting an erroneous TL, that they have erroneously "verified" and failed to remove it, and that they better remove it and confirm that it is removed, quickly. If you get no prompt action, file a complaint with both FTC and your state's AG, and sent ITS to both.
