I remember reading another post similar to this but I can't find it now.. Anyway I started an investigation online on 8/31 with equifax, today I received a letter from them dated 9/6. It stated... below are the results of your request for equifax to reinvestigate certain elements of your equifax credit file. Equifax contacted each source directly and our investigation is now completed.Enclosed is an updated copy of your credit file. And there is nothing listed on the letter. They sent a copy of my file and everything I was investigating has a notation of consumer disputes-reinvestigation in process. And everything else is the same. What is the deal with this, if anyone knows?
It sounds like they sent you the wrong form letter in error. After you initiate disputes, the CRA is SUPPOSED to send you a report that they have begun the dispute reinvestigation process. If your report shows that the accounts are currently in dispute, expect another form letter in 30+ days that correctly states the reinvestigation is complete. You might even send copies of the info. they sent you to the FTC for them to scrutinize.
Could I send them back a copy of the letter and report telling them to delete the items seeing as they claim the investigation is now completed but they have yet to investigate anything?
Hi, Im a lurker here! I just received the exact same Re-investigating letter dated 9/11 from Equifax as you describe from a dispute investigation I requested on 8/15? After 30 days shouldnt they either verify or delete? or is this just a way of stalling for more time?
