When I type in my confirmation number to check the status it has the confirmation number, date disputed and date due in a little box at the top. That's all. Is that how Equifax works? I mean when the date is up will you see the results, like you do with Experian or does it NOT show anything? This is my first time to be able to dispute online with them because somehow they show I live in NY when I live in TX. But I thought I would get to see what I had disputed like you do with Experian.
Will I have to call after 1-11-02 to get my results or what? I won't get a mailed copy because it will be going to New York and I live in Texas. I just hope someone out here has disputed online with Equifax before and can help me out. I don't want to have to pay for a new report every 30 days. I was hoping it was like Experian and would show what you actually disputed and the pendings, remains, deleted etc.
The following information lists your current active case(s) and explains the investigation process. If you have additional questions, please contact us at the telephone number and/or address on your credit file. Active Investigation Status Information: Name: Confirmation # 135239267 Date Investigation Started 12/12/2001 Estimated Completion Date 01/11/2002 The investigation request(s) displayed above are awaiting a response from the creditor, courthouse, and/or other source that reported the item(s) originally. Equifax verifies all credit account, public record and collection account information with the original sources when you initiate an investigation request. This verification process can take up to 30 days from the date your investigation request was initiated; however, in most cases this verification process has been completed within 2 weeks. This is what I get when I try to check status. Is this correct or have I done something wrong?
Yes, that is the way EQ works and it stinks! After the investigation is done their system does not tell you whether something is deleted or not; their system brings up all the current accounts listed on your report and you have to look through the list to determine whether a disputed account is there or not. During that process you can once again start another dispute online. You will get an updated report with the results by snail mail.
