I just ran my report for Equifax and there is an item in the report that is inaacurate. First, there is an item labeled as a "charge off" from Bally's, which is labeled as a negative item. Then there is another item from Bally's under the heading of "positive comments" that says I paid the account. Can I have a charge off and a paid item on my credit report from the same creditor, for the same account?

Did you move? The scenario I am guessing on: you used Bally's, but then moved so the account was transferred to your new location. Since the account balance at the old location was transferred to the new location, there was no balance so the old location reported it as PAID. After the account was transferred, it was not paid and was charged-off- so the new location is reporting it as a charge-off. Am I right??

I have a similar situation with a loan on my credit report... the CRAs said both can stay on because the debt was TRANSFERRED from one office to another, so both entries are legit.
