When I ask Equifax for my report, they always ask for lots of proof of who I am, even though I enclose proof with my request (drivers license, social security card, and two utilities bills). It usually takes three or four letters and about a month to get a report. The problem is that they keep merging my report with reports of other, random people. It is a royal pain in the neck. If I go through one of the free sites, will I have the same problem? I think the bottom line is that my address changes on a regular basis and that is why they require so much proof. The address on the report depends on whose report they merged mine with. I stay in one place so it is not my fault.
