Equifax ripped us off!

I was trying to help my girlfriend repair her credit so we tried to get a CR off www.freecreditreport.com and they said she answered one of the privacy questions wrong (which she did not), so they told her that her credit report number will be sent in the mail. We wanted to still try and get it that day so we called the number that was provided.

She contacted a live agent who asked her every place she had ever lived for security purposes and they still said that was not enough information and that we had to wait 7-10 business days for her to recieve the report # in the mail. WE specifically asked if her account would be charged and the guy said that her account would not be charge until she actually pulled the CR.

Today she looked in her bank statement and they took it out! She got the name of the agent as well who told her that and she still has not gotten the report #. She tried to call all the #'s she could find on thier web page but could not speak with a live agent.

Is there anything we can do about this. Equifax has screwed me over left and right and now theyre starting in on her. If theres anything we can do please let us know

    thanks deedz

If you are in Texas the # for an actual "real live person" is 866.264.4878.

Your girlfriend should challenge the debit immediately with the bank.

There has to be a procedure listed somewhere on the statement or the account for an "unauthorized" debit on a checking account.

But don't delay, do it *immediately*.

This reply is a little late but forgive me since I'm new here. Equifax also said I answered one of my security questions wrong. I let it go and paid for a report. I didn't know about receiving anything in the mail. Here's the kicker... I requested it end of March 06/ beginning of April 06 and JUST NOW on June 24, 2006 received something in the mail from Equifax. What a crock. I'm sure I still won't be able to get a copy of my report for free because of this! What complete and utter bullsh*t!!

Talking to a real person and asking for the Supervisor at Equifax has always worked for me.
