I just looked at my Equifax report today and they have changed my address to one that I have never stayed. Thus bumping my address of 15 yrs to a former address. My Providian account was at a 0 balance now it is @1541! It seems as when the Providan account was placed they changed my address. Now I can prove I never lived there. What would be the best angle to approach this one? TIA
It sounds to me as though Providian has probably reported someone else's account (and their address) to your credit bureau profile. You really need some serious investigation into this one. Once the other persons address or any other of their details is on your profile you are vulnerable to all kinds of weird things happening. I know from experience!
Mist is right. You definately need to investigate this. I believe it was posted in the past that Providian does some kind of address verification when opening or denying accounts? They match your name to the address and they are able to find out if a current Providian cardmember lives there currently or in the past? They have obviously mixed something up. Good luck!!
reality 89 no I have not there should be no balance. My thoughts were due to recent events Providian could not verfiy. So Exquifax gave them extra time. Mist & Miles I am getting right on it! i never lived at that address to begin with. I am going by the apartment complex to get proof. TIA
