We are beginning our credit repair work. Hubby sent letter to Equifax (local office) to have some old addresses removed. He received a form letter back, saying they need to verify his identify. They asked for a copy of driver's license or SS card AND copy of lease or utillity bill. okay so far. Then they want this form filled out - name, address, previous addresses for the last 5 years, home phone, work phone, date of birth, SS number, and finally, they want the names and account numbers of his credit cards!! He did not fill this part in. Why would Equifax need this to verify his identify? I guess I can expect a similar letter ;-(
The second letter is so you can do the dirty work for equifax. Ignore it. DL, SS card, an utility bill is more than enough information to prove your identity.
