Equifax - what does this mean?

I just checked Equifax to see the status of my dispute since tomorrow will be 30 days. It says the investigation was started on 4/30 and is expected to be complete by 5/3. Does this mean they are going over the 30 days to verify or what?

Oh after re-reading that I see what you mean...technically it is over 30 days (33), but only technically :)

What is confusing is the start date...it appears to be a mistake, but the completion date of 5/3 looks like they are still saying it will be complete in (approximately) 30 days on 5/3.

What technically? I started my dispute on-line 4/2. Last week the message was correct. Investigation started 4/2 expected to be complete 5/2. Why would they change it to 4/30 and then only have 3 days to investigate?

    Again...it appears that the 4/30 is a mistake...but 5/3 is 30 days.

Thanks! Obviously the CA or the OC didn't verfy. Actualy I was hoping they would. I was already preparing my case. Keep you fingers crossed for me. Its either off to court we go or 3 years of trying to get this corrected finally paid off.

All 10 fingers, 10 toes, and both eyes crossed.

It may look silly but it brings Good Luck! :))

Ya know, I lied. I just re-read my previous post. It's only been a year and a half, not 3 years. It sure seemed like 3 years though! Thanks again! Careful you might get cramped ; )

They changed it from 4/2 to 4/30 because they are in the process of updating it. Most likely deleting it. This is what they did with the few that I disputed online. When I saw the change in start dates, I called and asked. I was told it was updated showing they have 3 days to update your report. And, each time they did this, the item was deleted.

When you find out for sure, please post the results so we know for sure.

I was wondering, how do you see the dates for when the dispute was started and when it will end? My report always just says "consumer disputes, reinvestigation in process". I'm so impatient to know when they'll end.

I just go into start and investigation. Enter the conf # from your credit report that you originally started the dispute on. Not the new conf. # You should get a screen that says what date dispute started and expected to be complete. For me it seemed like the 30 days took forever!

Does anyone know if they will send me an updated copy in the mail?

You must be able to dispute online then. I have to call or write to do it. Man, I wish I could use online dispute with them. It's so nice with Experian since I'm so neurotic about it and check it nearly every day LOL.
