Ok, I have sent Equifax disputes for my husbands file numerous times. We get a letter practically every week from them asking for proof of ID! We send it and we get another letter! This last letter was sent out the same day they signed for our last dispute letter that was sent WITH ID!
Has anyone else had this problem?

They are screwing with you. Just send them a letter stating that they have asked too many times and its becoming frivilous:)

LOL re the previous post. Actually, DON'T tell them they're being frivolous. The just-above-minimum-wage people reading your letter won't get their feelings hurt, and they will have the power to flag your account as "potential credit repair" or "frivolous," etc. The word "frivolous" actually appears in the Fair Credit Reporting Act and pertains to the CRAs right to label multiple and apparently random disputes as "frivolous." The FCRA does not give you the right to label them frivolous, lol, even if they are. Bottom line: don't send them insulting and sarcastic correspondence. On the other hand, you can send them strong, assertive, demands that your rights be upheld.

Instead, I suggest you do something proactive going forward: Here's how to prevent Equifax and other CRAs from stalling with the "need more identification" tactic from now on. Go to your local copy shop, and make 20 or so copies of your driver's license, your husband's driver's license, and a recent bill showing your current address (a utility or phone bill will work just fine). Then, every time you send a dispute, mention in your letter something like this: "For identification purposes, I have enclosed a copy of my driver's license and a recent bill showing my current address." That way, you've taken away their ability to do this to you from now on.

My husband just phoned and they tried to get him to dispute the items over the phone, but after he gave one account name and why he wanted it disputed, she came back with the account was settled, with a zero balance, what is the problem? He told her the information was inaccurate. Then he told her he had just sent in a letter with ID, his call was concerning WHY we keep getting the letters. No real answer, she did say they just sent us a credit report May 6. We'll see.

PsychDoc, I agree, no need to get sarcastic or mean, my husband was very polite, but firm, we just wanted to know why we keep getting the letters, we just sent ID with the last dispute letter, then receive this! It's crazy.

    Premeno,

I have been getting these verify Id letters for the last 4 months, I went as far as to send them a copy of my W-4 report, blacked out in area'a of course, and they are still sending me verify ID letters. I have been checking on line at my report and they have the things I disputed stated as so, so I don't know what there doing. I just keep sending the same thing over and over again. I seem to be making progress none the less.
