I have been disputing an item for 3 months now, everytime it was verified, well I had made a settlement agreement w/ the person, payment for deletion around the 2nd dispute, I pd, she sent the letter to delete, by that time 3rd investigation was started. I called Equifax and was told that they recieved the deletion form but will not delete until the 30 days, that is still like 3 weeks? Why will they not go ahead and delete? I was told by 2 different efx. employees that it is policy, so I said 'I need to apply for a loan today, but will be turned down (my only derog left) b/c of this, and you have recieved the deletion letter, so I guess I will contact my attorney.' I was told 'your attorney will explain to you that we have 30 days to investigate'

Why don't you call the lady at Equifax that everybody seems to have success with. Robin Holland? Do a search.

I guess I should reitterate, I am not in a major hurry for it to come off, it just infuruated me b/c in my eyes, that is almost like malicious, they know it is supposed to be removed, but yet they are still making me wait, I just assumed that as soon as they got the letter they would do the right thing and delete instead of making me suffer longer, it's like they are admitting their mistake, that the account does not belong to me but they are continuing to make ME pay for it (even though it is mine, they were told it is not) if it was genuinely not my acct., I would REALLY be mad as he**.

I have had excellent success with Robin Holland. I called her voicemail number and left a message on a Saturday explaining my situation and what I needed done. I also faxed her office a letter as well outlining the dispute and any important forms I had to have the account deleted.

    Guess What??

She called that Monday afternoon and said the tradeline was deleted and that she would be sending me out an updated credit report.

By Friday I had the new report and a letter from her stating it wouldn't happen again!!

    Talk about service!!

I would have never gotten this far and fast a service with the regular pee-on's that answer the phones for Equifax.

    Give it a shot!

just fyi, I had to go through this today and EQ will call the CA to verify that it is to actually be deleted before actually deleting the item. regardless of what you have in a letter.

At least that was what they did to me today.
luckily the CA was too scared to lie to them.

It appears it is damn near impossible to get them (EQ) to do anything via the 'normal' means, ie their 1-800 number and their public fax line. you really need to know an inside person like robin holland.

No no no. I did not send them the letter, the creditor sent them their very own 'UDF' back saying delete. Equifax has told me that they recieved it last week, like 2 days after the 3rd investigation started. But they still will not delete even though it is on their own 'consumer dispute verification' saying to delete. They stated that they have 30 days to do it.

This might be kind of thin, but it is worth trying --

    (b) Accuracy of report. Whenever a consumer reporting agency prepares a consumer report it shall follow reasonable procedures to assure maximum possible accuracy of the information concerning the individual about whom the report relates.

If they already have the request to delete from the CA, then they know that the information they are reporting is incorrect. Pull your report so that you can show that they are knowingly reporting false information.

    I don't know . . . what does anyone think?
