I've been waiting for some type of response from Equifax for nine days now. They claim they cannot find any trace of me even though I provided proof. They won't talk to me on the phone, answer my emails, or my letters. I just don't exist anymore. Last month when I wanted a credit card, they were able to find my file so that the credit card company would deny me. Based on the denial, I have the impression that my Equifax file is filled with errors but I can't find out. How long should I give them to send me a credit report after I sent in ID veryifing who I am? And, who do I complain to?
That seems too long to wait. Last time around, I waited over two months for Experion to send me my report. That put me two months behind in clearing up my credit. They can do it online if they want. But they just won't budge. The nine days I gave them seems too long already. Any other opinions? That's the beauty of this board. If you don't like someones opinion, you can shop around for another. By the way, judging from your tagline, I am guessing you are on a diet. Am I right? I need to be.
I am not trying to ask silly questions, but is there a chance that Equifax doent have any information on you? This would be highly unlikely because of their size, and if you ever bought a home it would be almost impossible. But, if you have never been so lucky to deal with a creditor that pulled info form equifax it is possible. I do remember hearing about Equifax having a large problem with their repository. Mayble you are on of the many who are getting the bad end of data management.......
Heh.. not on a diet per se... just trying to be a little bit better about what I eat. While a few of us were in chat last Sunday my cat walked into the room and demanded to be fed. When I went out to the kitchen to feed him, I had the urge for a cookie. I got out a bag of carrots instead. It just seemed like a whimsical thing to put in the signature line since I wasn't using it for anything else. As for Equifax -- you have to consider mail transit time and then the time it takes to go from their mailroom to whoever opens it, give them a couple of days to actually get to it, then a day or so for them to schedule you into that night's batch job for printing reports, then to a burster and envelope stuffer, back to the mail room and then another postal transit time before it gets to you. The time can easily add up.
Godaddyo: No, they have me. I pulled my reports a couple times earlier in the year when I had some negatives. I got those fixed. The last report shows they have info on me going back to 1972. The frustrating thing is that they will not discuss it on the phone. They will only accept mail. And, they will not respond to my email They said they have a "safety watch" on the account but were unable or unwilling to tell me what that was. I have had perfect credit for over thirty years and now it is all coming apart, caused by negatives which are not mine. It is frustrating. It has me worried there may be something real bad there - like credit theft. But I can't find out. All identifying info is still the same since the last report - address, phone, etc. There should not be anything causing these problems. I have the HMO from hell who never pays bills until I put up a fight. I am beginning to think that doctors and hospitals are reporting me because the HMO did not pay them. After racking up over $150,000 in medical bills last year, there are a lot of them out there who might not have been paid.
Re: Equifax - update It has been twelve days since I first requested my credit report online and then by mail. Just checked the mail - no letter yet. Its been four days since I last sent them an email. Still no response. I guess I will just keep waiting.
Re: Equifax - update The reason monekybusiness like this never sees the light of day is that consumers are afraid of letting the world see their personal information-- and the credit bureaus deny anything like this happens. But, if you want to get their attention, we could all email them on your behalf, using some unique identifying information-- like a portion of your social security number. What email address did you use? I have some more. You can go to any search engine and type in "@equifax.com." You'll get a lot email addresses that way to use to make some noise. The Internet has changed the balance of power. And, keep accurate documentation of this history. You should give it to their regulator, the FTC. I've got a couple of very real beefs with Equifax, right now-- and the heat is about to get hotter.
Re: Equifax - update Finally, an answer. Instead of answering my questions, like why can't I get my report online, why do I have to provide drivers license, soccial security card, account numbers, etc every time I order my report, they sent me a generic letter telling me how to order my credit report. They just ignorred my letter and email where I told them I had already been denied access by their online site, email, and phone. They said to first try the online connection. I did, and it still refused to send me a report. So, I tried the phone ordering and they promised to send it within 48 hours. Still don't know why they didn't send it 12 days ago when I tried. Basically, I have lost 12 days already fooling around with them. I feel like I am dealing with idiots.
Re: Equifax - update If you live in a big city, there may be an Equifax affiliate there. Go there, physically, and talk to them. Yes, they're idiots, but they're the only idiots we have, and they're in charge. Important: Keep documenting. I know some lawyers. In the meantime, get your reports from the other two blind mice. One is an imbecile, and the other a moron. Perhaps their reports will help you figure out what's going on. See www.experian.com and www.tuc.com.
Re: Equifax - update I am going to try the other two tomorrow. Last time, it took over two months to get my report from Experion. Thanks for your support.
Re: Equifax - update Obviousily the biggest bunch of morons on this earth. I have been trying to get my score on line and they keep turning me down for no reason. I have been referred to their fraud dept. They tell me that everything is ok and try again. I get the same results everytime. I cant understand it. Today I talked with the consumer affairs office. They turned me over to the fraud dept again and I got the same run around for the third time... They just dont care...
Re: Equifax - update Godaddyo, Keep after them. Something is wrong and they just don't feel like taking the time to find it. Here's what happened to me. I ordered my score on line and got the standard too busy remark. I called a few days later and they wouldn't give it to me over the phone. The rep said that I had 2 ssn's under my name. She wouldn't help me in any way figure this out. Couldn't (or I should say wouldn't) give me a name so we could figure out what happened. Said to mail in all sorts of info to verify who I was and they would send the score. Since I didn't care enough about the score I didn't send anything in. BUT< I did call the main number and speak to a regular CS rep and her supervisor who told me that there was nothing wrong with my credit report, and the other rep was wrong. NO 2 SSN's on my account. Soooo, I never got my score. Then I see the debit on my account, which they said would not happen. So I called. I got a superviosr who was extremly helpful and was as puzzled as I was about the claim of a 2nd ssn on my account. She actually took the time to look way down into my report and finally said..."okay, I see the other number." Of course she couldn't give me all the info but she kept asking me questions until we figured it out. She eventually told me..... "do you recognize the name XXXX" and it was MY FATHER. As soon as she said the name I rattled off the SSN to her. (Military kid! We always knew our fathers SSN) YES! That's it. Somehow, some way, his SSN and name got linked to mine through Sears about 15 years ago. No way I will ever know how that happened, we never got anything together, except that he co-signed my first car for me. Sears must have linked us somehow. ANYWAY... she took the time to search it out and find it..... and FIXED it right on the phone for me. DO NOT GIVE UP UNTIL YOU FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE GOTTEN EVERYTHING STRAIGHT. Keep calling until you get a rep that will help you figure it out. Believe me, don't believe them when they say there's nothing there. They wouldn't have you in FRAUD if they didn't have a reason. WOW, sorry this got soo long.
Re: Equifax - update Would you write to them and post the correspondence here? It takes patience, but they'll screw up. They always do. It is quite informative and instructional (not to mention entertaining). Members of Congress read this stuff, too. What do you say?
Re: Equifax - update judyputy, you are right, I shouldnt give up. I think I just need a couple days of cooling down before I try again. Your story has given me a little hope that I will get it resolved. I have been doing this credit repair thing for 2years. I cant complain to much, especially since I usually always win. This is just another obstacle, Right?
Re: Equifax - update Greg, You have a great point. I have gotten to accustomed to dealing with them over the phone and throught email. I do everything esle concerning credit throught certified letter return receipt requested. I guess its time to treat this matter in the same manner. I will write them a very serious letter and post the results here for just the reasons you stated.
Re: Equifax - update Greg, Iam mailing out the first letter today. Would you be willing to give me any email addresses, so that I may give it two them in both directions?
Re: Equifax - update There are a large number of addresses at http://creditaccuracy.com and http://creditscoring.com/letters/equifax.htm . You might also try the search engines for "@equifax.com."
