Establishing "retail" credit

    We have no retail or store cards. What is the best way to establish one? Are some stores easier than others to obtain? Is say a Sears card better than a Chevron card?

    Essentially we won't probably even use it except minimally to establish a good TL and eventually history.

    Stay the he** away from sears right now!! Try target guest.

    I suggest Macy's or JC Penney's or Lord and Taylor's

    Also, Firestone's credit card ... you can use it for auto repairs

    What scores are needed for say Target or JCPenneys, what reports are pulled?

    For JC Penney's ... in NJ, EFX pulled, scores no idea, guess they would have been about 620 or so
