estoppel letter question

I have sent a validation request to CA, I never received any reply. I was busy and didn't follow up as I should, then sent an estoppel letter to the same CA about 3 months later. (i know this was a mistake and am now following procedure much more carefully. The account was never marked in dispute on my CR. I have copies from every month saved on my PC

    I have two questions.

Lets say the account was marked in dispute after the first validation letter was sent and then later the dispute notation came off, would the CA be required to mark the account in dispute once they received the subsequent Estoppel letter?

How long are the diputed TL required to be noted as in dispute once a validation letter is sent to CA ? 30 days or until the consumer receives validation? If no validation is ever sent, is the "dispute" notation supposed to remain indefinitely?

    Thanks for any replies!
