I just got off the phone with Eugene Cooke from Capital One and he sucks!! I have a old cc that was charged off and then sold to another company. I paid the other company. Capital One has never updated my Transunion Report to show that it was sold or that it had a zero balance. Eugene Cooke kept talking about ethical issues of reporting correctly. Basically he is going to update my credit report to show that it was sold to the other company. Can they reage the account because of this? It is supposed to fall off in 09/03. I'm soooo mad. Let me understand. You had a charge off that they sold but never updated. Now he is going to show it as a charge off sold - zero balance. That is they way it is supposed to reflect. Can they reage it? No. But Mr. Cooke has been very good to a lot of people. But he has never deleted the charge offs if that is what you were after. So what are you mad about?
Nope sorry, he does not suck. Nice guy. Sorry he couldn't do anything for you. I don't know why people think he can just do whatever. He does have bosses to answer to.
My dad has perfect credit, and he told him there was nothing he could do to raise his $500 credit line. We weren't impressed.
I had to talk to him for about 5 minutes to get him to change the balance to zero. He thought that as long as it said it was sold that it didn't matter whether it had a balance. I finally convinced him to update the balance to zero. I kind of got the idea that Eugene Cooke likes to talk on the phone..alot. Maybe if I would have just kept talking and talking I would have got what I wanted. As for re-aging, what concerns me is that this account was charged off before the laws were updated. The laws on reporting were updated to keep items from being reaged. The old laws do not. I guess that I will have to wait and see what he does to my report.
I think Mr. Cooke is one of the best people at any lender I have dealt with. I have had two contacts with him. Both were pleasant and he was very forthright and honest about what he could and could not do. He communicates well and quickly (returns calls/PFB's). My impression is when he has discretion he leans toward the side of the borrower. Cap 1 sets the policy for rasing limits and credit reporting, not Mr. Cooke. Remember he is bound by his company's policy. Mr Cooke is a valuable asset to Cap 1. Mr Cooke is a
Well if that's true, why does it seem he can do all these wonderful things for some people, and nothing for others? I understand cap1 sets the policies, but it doesn't seem uniform.
I also think Eugene Cooke is a very nice man. I had two contacts with him via PFB and phone. The first contact was regarding a credit line increase which he could not do anything about. The second was to unsecure my card and get rid of the annual fee. Well, this time he unsecured the card and refunded the $49 to my card and also credited the annual fee of $49.00. Mr. Cooke has always been professional and responds very quickly when there is an issue. I agree that there are some things he just can't do.
Just my two cents, so it is worth much, but I believe Cap 1 as well as other lenders use internal scores when they evaluate your requests. I know that when I spoke to Mr. Cooke, he told me that my internal score was good with them, and he did raise my limit. No, everything that I asked for, I didn't get. But, he was VERY fair. He explained what guidelines I need to maintain to get where I wanted within their company, and told me to contact him again within 6 - 8 months so that he could reevaluate my situation. No other lender has treated me with the RESPECT and honesty that he did. There were no false promises, he did everything that he said he would. He is more than okay with me.
I send all my validation letters first class mail, Cap 1 never replyed to my letter asking for a copy of a signed contract that was used to start this acount that I do not ever remember having. I filed a complaint with my state AG that Cap 1 never replyed to my letter asking for a copy of a signed contract to start this acount or to remove the item from my credit report. Cap 1 in a letter to the AG said it would be removed showing wood will towards it's customers.
I think people who do not get their way with "XYZ", and then post a message that "XYZ Sucks" need to take a step back, take a breath, and re-evaluate their plan of attack to reach their goals. You will never get anywhere with that strategy. Period. A more mature tactic or approach to reaching your goals is probably better off for you. As for Mr. Cooke (and Mr. Miller), he does wonderful things when he can. I can attest to that. and I have seen MANY others who have been helped by Mr. Cooke when NOTHING else has worked at Cap1. HOWEVER, sometimes Cap1's rules and regulations bind even his seemingly marvelous capabilities. He (and Gaither) has helped many people here many times and most of us believe he WILL help whenever he CAN. That does not mean he can help everyone with every situation. I also agree with LKH in that - he seems to have actually given you exactly what you deserve..."a correctly updated listing of the information in your report". Did you want more than that? JMO. -Peace, Dave
There are NO hard feelings here as far as my discusion with G. Miller last week. I asked for something and was denied. It should be appreciated that these two gentlemen are NO B.S kind of guys. straight to the point! It was not their fault I failed to keep up a twenty dollar payment. My two cents
