How does one check their EQ score without paying $12.95 each time? I get TU every time they send me back a copy of my updated report. I get EX any time I want to go to Credit Expert and check it. I have yet to see my Equifax score.

    Thanks,
    L

TU and Experian scores are not the real thing - that is why they are so free with them. Equifax is selling your real Beacon score - that's why they carge more. I took the "buy 3, get one free" deal they offer. That's the best deal on it I've seen so far.

The TU and Experian scores are "pacifiers" because consumers have raised a fuss wanting their scores."

You can buy 4 scorepower reports through Equifax for approx. $38.95. It's something like, buy three get one free. Unfortunately, they don't have a system like Experian's CreditExpert.

Breeze, you say they aren't the real thing, but when a potential creditor pulls your TU score for example...isn't that the score they will get? This score thing is the hardest part of all this to understand.

    Thanks!

No that is not the score a lender will get. TU is not giving that one out, not even for a price. The only way to get that score is, if you apply for credit, and the lender pulls TU, ask them what your score is.

That seems sort of deceiptful to me. Had you not told me this, I would have believed, based upon their statements regarding the score I receive, that it is the exact same score they show to potential creditors. I really hope this system gets an overhaul for the better sometime really soon.

Actually, they make it pretty clear. It is that consumers already have in their heads that there is only one score.

    Look at these statements:
    http://www.tuc.com/Personal/ConsumerScores.asp

I can't post Experian's statements about their score, because their site is unavailable right now.

If you read carefully, you will see that nowhere do they say this is The Score used by lenders. They say it is the "consumer" credit score.

This is the way businesses do. Learn to read what isn't there and you will be better off.

The only thing to understand about it is it's a rigged shell game .

    It's not a system It's a racket.
The only overhall it gets is they are constantly inventing more and more ways to use it against us.
