Ever deal with IC systems?

Here goes. I have a listing on all 3 from IC systems for a long distance bill unpaid from 2001. I sent a validation letter and they contacted the OC who sent fairly solid evidence of the debt which was forwarded to me.

The question. I would be willing to pay in exchange for removal of all derogatories but I could use some specific advice on how to proceed. I have heard IC is pretty hard headed so if anyone has dealt with them recently that knowledge would be helpful as well.

Do a search here for "settlement offers". You should find quite a few discussions on this issue.

    RE: File Number: XXXXXXX

    Dear Mr. Brown,

Thank you for the attempt at verifying the alleged debt. What I received was an application and a computer printout. It doesn't even add up correctly to the total amount of this alleged debt. What is required is undisputable proof that the collection is valid and mine. A computer printout and application does not constitute undisputable proof, as you very well know.

I stated I no longer wanted unsolicited phone calls, only written communication.

Once again, if you are unable to furnish proper validation, I request that you delete all information regarding this debt from my credit reports and send me written notice doing so within 10 days. My fax number is 931XXXXXXXX. If I do not receive any response by July 10th 2002, I will have to resort to other measures to resolve this issue.

    Sincerely,

    The Kiyi

They are total idiots. What worked for me is this. I asked for verification of the debt from all three CRA's. TU never answered but deleted the negative. Both EX and EQ verified.

Then I tried a validation letter on IC Systems. They never responded, but EX deleted exactly 30 days after IC received it, so I assumed IC told them to delete.

EQ would not budge. I contacted the original creditor who wrote me a letter saying that they never dealt with me and had no records on me. Still not enough for EQ, who verified again with IC, never contacting the OC.

I gave up for a while. Was tired of the whole thing. After about six months, I called IC and talked to a supervisor and let off a whole lot of anger, knowing it would not do me any good. After I calmed down, I called EQ, played nice guy, and persuaded a supervisor to delete it. Her reason was that they should have deleted after they got the letter from the original creditor.

A couple morals here. IC does not verify because they can't - they don't have the proof. Keep trying, you can get it off eventually.

As far as paying for deletion, I doubt it. These people have their rules and they don't budge.

I just got a letter of deletion from IC System for a paid CA in the mail yesterday. Finally! They kept verifying with EXP.

In my case, it was a $25 bill that I was wrongfully billed for sometime in 1997. Not only should I have not been billed, but it was billed to the wrong address. OC called IC to delete, but they wouldn't. I called OC to delete and they claimed they billed me at the right address, LIARS, they only looked at my current address. IC also said that since I paid the account, I agreed it was mine. OC signed a letter I sent to EXP saying I was never notified of the bill and it should be deleted, EXP being the jerks they are, refused to investigate.

Next, I sent a letter to IC System requesting Validation. Also, I clearly explained I was entitled to validation since I never paid the account, the rightful account holder paid the account. I included a notarized affidavit from the individual who paid the $25 balance in 1998 to further my point that I am entitled to validation, regardless if it is paid because I did not pay it, therefore I never agreed the debt was mine....which is true.

Anyways, I now have my letter of deletion from IC and if Exp refuses to investigate, I swear I will sue them this time!
