My ex was ordered to pay a charge card debt that he is not paying so the charge card company is coming after me. I have no clue where my ex is at this point in time. I want to do something to take care of this debt and then find the ex.

Are there any laws that may protect me considering I am the primary card holder and he is the secondary card holder?

I have not received a statement from the OC or a letter from the CA, they were going to the ex's address. The only contact I had with the CA is when they called me at work. Then I contacted the CA to find out what my options were in paying this.

Creditors are not bound by divorce decrees.

Yep it sucks but is true. You have to file contempt charges against your ex assuming you can find this person.

I know that credit card companies don't care about divorce decrees/settlement agreements. I found that out after the fact.

I did pursue an attorney regarding this and was going to file contempt of court charges against the ex. But I have since found out he has nothing and isn't paying any of his bills - he just got his car repossessed. So this puts me in the position of being fully responsible for this bill.

But... I have never received anything from the charge card company in over a year such as a billing statement and I have never received a letter from the CA about this account being in collections.

I am sending my validation letter to the CA today.
