I have a collection acct dated 3/96 that was deleted by TU and EQ on my first round of disputes. Exp has verified this acct twice! (I think I disputed as 'not mine' the last time) When I started repairing my credit in June, Exp was my best CR (only having one collection), followed by EQ (2 collections) and TU (3 collections). Fast forward to today...TU has no collections remaining and EQ has one left, which is in dispute and I expect to be deleted (TU just deleted). Exp still has the one collection and they are proving to be a royal pain in my arse!! Anyway, I plan on applying for a car loan at the end of the month. I have been able to push my TU and EQ FICO scores to 706 and 703, respectively. BTW, my ELoan score (based on my TU CR) is 707, so it pretty close. I plan on applying at my local credit union, so I can't determine who they pull as they are not listed on millcbs.com. Which is the best method to get this collection deleted the fastest? Would it be to dispute as "unauthorized signature" as I know I didn't sign anything (the collection is related to a phone co.)? Contact the CA and determine what documentation they have (probably just a computer printout since it is so old, which is not proper validation documentation) and send a nutcase letter? Contact EX to determine what documentation they have rec'd for validation? Or a combination of the above? I am getting really frustrated w/ EX...Please help!
WHAT I WOULD DO IS, FORGET ABOUT EXPERIAN FOR RIGHT NOW. TALLY ANY VIOLATIONS THEY MAY HAVE THUS FAR COMMITTED AND DOCUMENT THEM. WRITE THEM A LETTER ASKING FOR THE CONTACT INFORMATION WHOM THEY VERIFIED THE ACCOUNT WITH. IF/WHEN YOU GET IT, WRITE THE COMPANY AND ASK THEM IF THEY'VE BEEN CONTACTED BY EXP. IF YES, ASK THEM TO SENT ALL RELEVENT DOCUMENTS THAT PROVE YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCOUNT. TAKE IT FROM THERE AS FAR AS PROVING IT'S YOU AND WHAT NOT. THIS SOUNDS LIKE AN OC CASE SO VALIDATION MAY NOT WORK. IF THEY SAY NO, EXP HAS NOT CONTACTED US, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO. I DON'T HAVE THE FCPA RIGHT HERE WITH ME BUT, ONE SECTION DOES SAY THEY NEED TO ACTUALLY CONTACT THE SUPPLIER OF THE INFORMATION. MY GUESS IS THAT TEY ARE NOT.
Sloyarole, Thanks for your comments. I think that is a good idea. In addition, this board has many people have with experience dealing w/ disputes and EX...Is there any other comments that people may have??
Whoa, those caps are hard core! Want to bring it down to lowercase level? I had a hard time reading what you wrote. Thanks ;-)
I agree, the caps are hard to follow when it's a long paragraph like that. I, too, hate experian. They are the only one to verify my worst TL. I haven't decided what I'm going to do about it yet, but I'll find a way to get it off my report by spring. That's my goal (I've allowed myself plenty of time, thank god!)
