I'm sure this is not a new one. I pulled my credit report and found some Dr. bills for my daughter that were placed for collection. According to the Dr., my ex-wife took my daughter in for medical treatment, gave them my name, social, but gave a bogus address. When I checked my credit I have three outstanding collections that appeared since last spring but appear to be nearly three years old according to the report. My score has plummeted from a 730 to a 549. I had found two of these bills before and called the collection agency and paid them (wrong move, I now discover). My question is: So what can I do with this to clean up my credit and make sure this never happens again.
Call the doctor and tell them to take the account back from the CA because it's not your responsibilty. If only. The only real defense is to keep a vigilant eye on your credit report and fight vigorously when you see something negative show up.
You can always purchase credit monitering and you wil be notified of new accounts and inquiries in the event your Ex did other stuff in your name
