    Hello there,
My Ex-wife wanted our house. So during the divorce I signed it over to her. She was supposed to have 6 months to sell house, but the lawyer forgot to write that in the contract. Now she is 30 days late on the 1st mortgage and 60 days on the second. Now, she is trying to refinance the house with her boyfriend. If and when she refinances the house and pays off Citifinancial for the loans, how hard will it be for me to clean up my credit report. Do you think they will work with me since in my divorce papers say I am not responsible for the loans (since at this point they will be paid off) ?Any input would be appreciated. Thank you,

A little late for this advice, but you should have had a better lawyer....

Unless you went through and did a complete refinance (in your ex's name only), you are (legally) still responsible for the debt on the mortgages. As long as your name was on the mortgages, you are still jointly responsible.

But, you should try and request some "goodwill" from Citi, speak to someone, and then send a written request, along with copies of the divorce decree. No one likes to get involved in these matters, but you should try and work with someone there at Citi. But, do it before the refinancing closes.

You may also want to add a notation to these accounts (on your credit report) stating these facts.

Exactly. The fact that you have a judgement does not mean you're releived of your obligation to pay. The lawyer did not do his/her job correctly.

Was the the first a HUD or VA insured loan?

No, it was just a regular mortgage.

    Thank you to everybody,
