    sorry man,
everything was going great today. Star Wars Episode Two met my approval. I came home from the theatre with my son in a dreamy happy state of mind and then my neighbor asked me if I heard the good news. What a bummer. this is a lot of money for a family of five living only off my income.

Na dude, not a lease. A bottom feeder month to month agreement. The location is great. I plan to just suck it up for the time being so that I can go for that dream I have, home ownership. It will happen!

This landloard doesn't realize what a slum lord he is. I have in the past have agreed to do some maint. here for him. Never again! I am glad I told him about his leaking upstairs bathroom and water damage before my two boys kind of made a little accident. I hope he doesnt think that I am going to fix his plumbing, flooring, & cailling. We shall let the cheap b d pay full price for those repairs. It is so weird that he gives us this notice now. I just painted the place last week (my wife's idea). It looks tip top.

Any way I am over it now. I am looking toward the future. This board is so awesome. Ican't even start to describe the inspiration it has given me. thank you all especially mindcrime2, nave, keller have a few letters to prepare for monday it is time for a few items to on my ccr to be forcibly removed. I have a mission in life. Buy a house!!!!

    Gilliner,

I feel ya man. We have been on a month-to-month lease for over two years, hoping to buy a home soon. We had to pay $25 over market rent to maintain this 'status'. Last week we got a letter saying that our lease is up next month (how can that be, we don't have one) and that blah blah blah are our options and prices. If we do not sign a lease we pay market rent for a 12 month lease PLUS $100 for the month-to-month agreement!

We were furious! I called the rent office, told her we have no lease, so how can you give us a deadline of next month? "Oh, that what the computer says". I say "Don't you have a hard copy of what we signed?" She says, Yes, but this is what the computer says. Then she goes on to say that she has been in this office since February and had pregnancy complications (like this makes me feel better for jacking up my rent).

I told her I would get back with her.

Then earlier this week, another note on the door. $200 off first month's rent if we sign a 12 month lease.

    Whatever...

I hate it when people blame the computer. I once had an apt. mgr. blame the computer for sticking a great big late payment notice on my door. It was when I first started my business, and I was waiting on a check from a client. I told the mgr I needed to pay rent late that month, if possible, and she said no problem. Next day, there was a big ugly sign on my door for all the neighbors to read. I was furious. She said, "the computer just automatically prints those out." I said, "did the computer walk over to my apt and stick it on my door so that all my neighbors would think I was a derelict slug who doesn't pay the bills?" She was red-faced.
