    i paid off/closed account.

disputed account after several months of not updating experian. account was verified. sent PROOF to experian (cancelled check and letter from company stating the account had been closed)

i just got a letter from experian today stating that they couldn't use what i had sent for proof and account would remain verified and reported as it had been.

    ????? i'm stumped. help!!!

The only way to get anywhere with EXP is to file suit. You could try an ITS first...

IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL TO REFUSE TO CONSIDER CONSUMER PROVIDED DOCUMENTS

Send it to Experian. Even though they deny it, they have to accept documentation from you.

CRA--they are the ones who REFUSED to accept the PROOF

I'd send an ITS to both. The CRA for refusing to consider your information and for verifying an incorrect listing and the OC for reporting and verifying an incorrect listing.

You sue the CRA for 1000 for this violation.

Section 611 (a) (4) of the FCRA requires them to consider information submitted by the consumer.

    See also Richardson v. Fleet
'Once notified that a consumer disputes the information contained in such records, exclusive reliance on such information is neither reasonable nor justified.' US District Court for the District of MA

Not only are they required to accept the evidence you provide, but they are required to provide the creditor with a copy of your evidence within 5 days.

EXP never does this stuff though............they think they can just do whatever they want.

are there any instances in which the items a consumer sends to a CRA would not be accepted? just kind of generally overall. trying to get a feel for how i am going to go about this.

Also file complaint with FTC. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

File with the FTC, but don't expect them to do anything specific to your case. They collect complaints until they get a large number against one company, then they may take action. But it certainly doesn't hurt to make your voice heard.
