After updatiing my report, it came back saying they removed a social security number. How can this be used to my advantage?

Now I just got another letter with more info they've erased. They've taken off an old phone number and a couple past addresses.

I have gotten replies from them stating the take the SSN of for security reasons. Why let the mailman know you number.

It's still there. The least info the better.

There were SSN variations on your file they erased the variations. That is what that meant. It has happened to me. Your SSN is still there.

actually just want to let ya all know

sometimes when you dispute the different variations of your ss# the CRA goof and remove the entire # with it.

my CR does NOT show my ss# at all for security reasons. this is with Experian

ONLY TU and EQ both still show the true #.

strange I know, the way I see anyone who has a ligit purpose for viewing your CR already has your ss# so why should it be displayed so you can be a potential fraud or id theft victim?

I wrote a letter to the FTC about this in hopes something will change. I also informed my state Attorney Generals office so they can take some action to lower ID theft cases.

If alot of cosumers band together on these same issues and informed the FTC or the AG I bet the laws would change.
