I called them today and disputed 7 old addresses wich they accepted for dispute. but have a dozen different name variations. my name is Daniel patrick. they refused to dispute such variations as Danny, Dan, or even Patrick which isnt my first name at all but my middle name which they deem to still be acceptable. Are name variations a big deal overall? they told me to basically take the issue up with the creditors. Ultimately though do any disputes get hung up on such things as a name variation on your file? Also, would it be worth while to write to them and state that I am not known by any other name than Daniel. or is that just going to fall on deaf ears? thanks
Yep, try calling back. This sounds funny, but I have most luck speaking with people of the opposite sex when it comes to this. Make sure to put your "nice" hat on.
the first lady I spoke to was nice and acknowledged that the use of danny was tied to a phone acct I never trully had. but when it seemed I had excess potential fraud she tranferred me to another department where that woman was less interested in making informal observations that seemed obvious and seemed more desirous to push it off as a clerical error on the CAs part and I need to go fight with them. guess I will call back next week and try again.
I called experian the other day about my report and just now for my boyfriends report (had to say I was his wife) and got ALL old addresses, phone numbers and even the name with my middle initial off. I called 1-888-972-5722. They were nice - I was surprised!
dispute two names, then call again and do two more. Maybe they thought you were trying to "pull' too many names at once...
