I just reviewed my Experian report to find that they "verified" information that is wrong for the third time. I had a very difficult time getting them to dispute this item again, but the problem is, it is their mistake and they keep verifying it! The creditor does not verify this information. I have to apply for a mortgage and have been working on this mistake of Experian's, with no luck. I am at my wits' end. Should I retain an attorney? I wrote about this last month after my second try with no luck, I am exasperated and almost ready to give up. This is ridiculous. Please help. Thanks in advance.
JK, It is your right to request Experian provide you with the creditor's contact name, address, and phone number of the account in dispute. In order for Experian to verify its accuracy, they contacted "someone", and you need to demand that "someone's name" for your records. In fact, if they do not provide this info, request that they completely remove this item from your report on grounds that they cannot prove "verification". If they give you the above info, follow-up with that "someone", so that you may request directly with the creditor, that they correct your entry on your consumer report. Bottom Line: Be persisitant and you'll get results. Lawsuits cost money, just use the tools you have. Good Luck, BarryN
Thanks, I have done those things and I have been assured by the creditor that they are not verifying this false information. And then they send me back to Experian because they say since Experian is the only one reporting this, it is their fault. Experian says they are verifying it, although last time I disputed, they woman at Experian put in specific dates (correct dates, not ones on report), came back verified (with incorrect dates)? Not a chance. Anyway, Experian sends me to the creditor. Back & forth. As I said, I have been doing this for three months and have gotten nowhere with them. I don't understand. I will try the "someone's name" again, though. Thanks.
Don't bother emailing "Ro This is a bored guy who can't do a thing for you. Don't bother. Unfortunately, this guy has nothing better to do than to lie to people online. He uses this email address on another board too, where he claims he can add credit to your file for a fee. If you bother trying to email him, he'll just tell you that he can't do what he claimed for this or that reason. He told one guy he couldn't help him because the guy gave a hotmail address. Funny, since this "Robert" uses a free address too. Just wanted to make sure you know this one is a hoax.
