Sent experian a cer rrr letter and they kick back a letter saying its suspicious and refuse to investigate and or they will turn it over to the authorities. Well whoop tee do, they were given ID, account numbers etc to verify identity. Suggestions? I have another one ready to go stating i am not waiving the time period and they are in violation. FTC complaint lodged as well as a copy to Tx atty general. What now? Thanks.
Never seen that letter. Sounds as if you may need a consumer protection attorney. They're represented by Jones Day and they won't roll over easily.
Have you disputed this multiple times before, or was this your first attempt? It seems kind of strange to me that you would receive this kind of response out of the blue. I have a feeling you would receive a much different response if your attorney sends them a letter on your behalf. However, you may want to at least try calling first to see if you can get a human that will give you a reason for why your dispute has been tagged as suspicious.
They throw out letters "like" this all the time in order to avoid having to re-investigate accounts. Re-investigations costs them money and they're clients; i.e., creditors and debt collector subscribers money, thus, they don't like to do them. However, I've never seen that exact letter. Weird. Along the same lines, Equifax used to send out letters that accounts had already been investigated, the consumer was using a credit service organization, and we'd get the fall back. However, the accounts weren't even on the reports to begin with. The design is to confuse and frustrate you. Don't let it.
