I did Doc's trick (thanks again Doc) with CE and disputed 11 inquiries yesterday. At the same time I called in and had 12 duplicate addresses taken off by the Experian rep. Today my score has not changed (651) but is showing 2 inq's from 9/00 dropped off, and the other 9 in dispute status. So here's the messed up part... on the credit mgr page it shows the FICO at 651, but when I go into the FICO simulator is shows it somewhere around 680 (guestimating because it only gives score ranges) and it does show only nine inq's. So why would it show a score on the first page at 651 and on the simulator so much higher??? Oh yeah, have I said thanks to doc yet? And all others in the threads giving assistance!
It is showing higher on the simulator becuase it is just that, a simulator. It doesn't put all the specifics into its' calculations.
Thanks LKH. Ah! but before I disputed, the simulator registered the same as the CMgr page -651. Where it allows you to slide the amount of inquiries on the java applet to see how it might 'affect' your FICO, it changed from 11 to 9. So it seems that the simulator doesn't look at when the inquiries were (last 12 months or 2 yrs ago) but rather just how many you have? And because FICO only looks at the last 12 months for it's calculations, it doesn't consider these being dropped off becuase they are almost two years old? Am I right in my assumptions? So what are my chances of getting the other 9 off if they are all older than 6 month inquiries? And when will they drop-do I have to wait 30 days??? What's been your experience?
Almost every inq dispute with Experian has run the full 30 days, for me. I have had every one of the disputed inq's deleted. So, it was worth the 30 day wait. Others have had them deleted rather quickly. I've seen a couple of posts today where some were already deleted since yesterday. Your guess on the simulator is probably accurate. But as it explains, the simulator only takes like 5 or 6 stats into consideration, whereas most models can use up to xxx.
https://www.creditexpert.com/creditexpert/creditmanager/019_402_am_crd_scoring.html https://www.creditexpert.com/creditexpert/creditscore/016_01_score_sample.jsp It's big news if Experian is selling the FICO score and I don't see any evidence that they are. What makes you think you are getting the FICO?
I wouldn't get too worked up, I think its just a poor program that simulates the scores when you change something. I laughed at that when I first saw it, its bad enough the the CE score is a knockoff of fico, so does that make the score simulator a knockoff of a knockoff??
