I think this was brought up sometime ago, but I want to revisit this scenario. Experian, as many of us know, does not follow the FCRA like it should. They have denied many of us the dispute and/or provide us info for our procedures request. Experian has blantly disregarded our rights under the FCRA. I propose that those of us that have had problems with Experian join together and plan to file complaints to the BBB, AG's and FTC. If we unite in this effort we could very well get Experian to follow the FCRA and grant us the rights we have under this federally mandated act. I have just had my first sucess with the BBB on a complaint I filed against NCO. I was able to get 3 account deleted, including Marlin/NCO account. I plan on filing complaints with all 3 agencies, but I think if we can get some strong number to file complaints at the same time, we may have a stronger vioce. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
I agree with you. It will take large numbers of complaints to get the attention we deserve. I plan on doing exactly what you did with Experian.
I recently submitted a procedureal request to EX. What I received was a copy of my CR, an advertisement for CreditExpert and a very general explanation of their procedures. Sounds like a good idea. I'm sure we aren't the only ones to get jerked around by Experian.
miami and stenwick, Thanks for the input. I know there are more people like us out there. Folks, we can help each other out and speak with a very loud voice if we can get together on a unified complaint against Experian.
I already sued these jerks. a BBBcomplaint will get you placed with one of their consumer service people who will treat you like crap and lie constantly. I say everyone file against them. It is the FTC complaint that will make the real difference.
Islandboy, can you elaborate on how you were able to have 3 accts deleted from Marlin/NCO by filing w/ the BBB? If is isn't too personal. Thanks!
HOMEN2004, I had 3 items with NCO/Marlin. 2 NCO-1 Marlin. Marlin is owned by NCO. I sent validations for each of these items by fax. 20 minutes after faxing I recieved a phone call for a "Tommy" who said he was a supervisor. He asked if I planned on paying these accounts and I told him not until he can prove to me that they are properly validated. I also told him that he is violation of my cease and desist request and he violated the FDCPA for calliing me and trying to collect. He then called me an "ASS". He dared to call me this when he did not even know me. How rude! After that I filed a complaint with the BBB and they have helped out. If I have any further problems with then I will file with the FTC. And if it goes any further I will have a real good paper trail to fight them in court, if it comes to that.
Experian disclosed my personal information to someone else with the same last name, and never told me. When I was informed by the third party, I attempted to contact Experian to address the error. After MUCH difficulty finding any way to communicate with a human being, months of forms, e-mails, letters, requests for my personal information (which was supplied), now an Experian customer relations representative tells me that he cannot research my complaint unless I supply him with a copy of the Experian credit report that went to the third party. It's EXPERIAN's credit report. I never received it. I don't have a copy. They have wasted a lot of my time, seriously invaded my privacy, and now appear to be completely unaccountable. I am going to my Congressperson or the FTC.
