I called Experian just now asking about three mortgage inquiries on my report from March when I was preapproved for my mortgage. Two are coded as mortgage inquiries and one is not -- I just never felt like messing with it. When I first explained what happened to the customer service person he told me, "The inquiries all contain valid codes" and wasn't going to do anything. I then explained that all of the inquiries were the same company (which he was able to see) and that the FICO scoring model ignored multiple mortgage inquiries, therefore I wanted them all coded as such. He then said he would just delete all but the first mortgage inquiry right then and there. Not bad for an afternoon's credit work.
CE score jumped from 706 to 711 with the deletion of the two inquiries. This is my personal best when it comes to CE score. 720 is the cutoff point when I go from Medium Risk to Medium-Low risk. I'll have to see what happens when my new limits and balance transfers hit my report.
Who knows what the CE score takes into account. My true FICO score on myfico.com seems to treat the three inquiries as one. At least the FICO simulator only shows one inquiry when the same three are on my Equifax report.
