I recently had my mom add me as an AU on her first USA Card. They started reporting in under a week to Experian, and I'm impressed. However, the account has a statement that says "Account in dispute under Fair Credit Billing Act". I called her and talked to her and she has no idea why it would say that. She said that she once disputed charges from a magazine subscription and that's it. I called Experian and they claim that First USA added the note. My only option from them is to dispute the whole account. I'm afraid to do that as I've heard that make it disappear forever. What seems strange to me is that my creditexpert score doesn't reflect this account. Negative accounts in dispute are figured into my score, but not positive? What a load of crap. I don't want to hassle my mom too much about this account, I was happy I could convince her to add me as an AU to begin with. I guess if this is reported the same to TU and EQ then I'll try to have her call them and tell them to remove the dispute. I'm wondering if this is figured into my FICO score or not. Does anyone know if it is? Anyone experienced a similar situation?
Yep, I have the exact same thing, except I am not AU, it is my account. Experian says Citi put it there, Citi says no, they didn't. Experian has not updated my Citi account since September. The entire account is not factored in to your score while in dispute. They have added the dispute notation to all three reports. I contacted Citi and asked them to please resolve it since Experian is doing nothing.
