Too say the least! I have tried to call the 800# to order my yearly free report (I live in one of those 1 free/year states). They have totally changed their auto attendant receptionist choices and it is impossible to do so. If not impossible VERY obscure to find. Those scum will try and make anything you are entitled to like free reports, entering re-disputes/re-verifications etc as HARD as possible for the regular joe. In fact ALL 3 have obscured their report ordering systems to make this next to impossible to do. They need to be regulated/monitored by some consumer advocacy group or government agency. -Peace, Dave
I found out after reading some of the NY laws that NYer's are entitled to one free report a year also. But NY is not listed as one of these "free report" states on any of the CRA websites. I would never have even known about it otherwise. I haven't requested mine yet but was wondering if any of my fellow NYer's have requested and gotten a free report?
Just sat through the umpteenth call trying all the choices. Even tried to order free report based on being denied credit, and when the automated voice asked who denied me, I answered: "I have not been denied credit, I want to order my free report because I live in a free report state and could find NO WHERE else to order it without paying with a credit card." I was transferred to a line that clicked a few times, spewed off experian's mailing address, and hung up on me. The ONLY thing you can do calling the 800# is generate revenue for Experian, you can pay by creditcard (revenue), or get information about CreditExpert (another revenue generating tool), or get your report if you were denied credit (another revenue generating tool because the creditor paid to pull your report). Thanks for complying with the law and HAVING an 800# Experian. OH That's right, there is no law telling them the 800# must be useful. HEY EXPERIAN, BITE ME! -Peace, Dave
Just go to the experian site, request an investigation and you can see an updated report. you would need and old report #.
