You might have to see this to believe it, BUT EXP won't update my address to my current one because: "You address is a non-residential address", then goes on to say that my address is a "general building contractor". I live in my HOUSE at the address I sent to them and even enclosed a copy of my DL. Furthermore, my HOUSE has been standing here since 1905 and has NEVER been commercial. Since I sent the DL, how do I prove it further to them?
You may want to see if your local postmaster would write a letter on USPS letter head, verifying that 1313 Mockingbird Lane is a residential address, occupied by <NAME>. No idea if that would carry any weight or not? Is your home address being reported to them by DFs? If it is, then the home address should make its way into the report, unless they're doing the non-residential check with each DFs report.
They also ask for a utility bill in your name showing your actual address to be included with your DL.
furtik: Personally, they don't need EITHER, since one of the purposes of the FCRA is to combat identity theft. With a DL & Utility Bill, if the correspondence gets intercepted, lost, or misdirected, you have provided someone with more than enough information that they need to get a good start at stealing your identity. Did they ever send you reports to your current address, listing your current address as the home address? That coverpage with the mailing address that they sent it to should also work as proof from them, that that is your correct home address (if it wasn't, how would you have received it, mail telepathy?)
As I live in an exceptionally small town, I'm sure the PM would do that for me. But since DF's are reporting my addy, what is so hard for them to believe? I guess my actual question for them is if they are doing a non-residential check - WHY???? Thanks Jam.
probably keeps people from trying to use their work address as their home address for the CRA reports... don't know anyone who would do that, but you never know what *THEY* will think of...
Re: Re: Experian invalidates my addy Identity thieves, scammers, will often use a non-existant address or an address of an empty lot .. One of the best, in the movie "The Blues Brothers" John Belushi gives his address as "1060 West Addison Ave" ...the address of Wrigley Field PS: they can also tell if the phone number you give them is a pay phone, cell phone, business phone, residential phone, institutional (school, hospital) phone, or a jail phone!
Interesting. And if you live in prison/residential/hospital placement??? <g> We have problems occasionally ordering things like mag/news subscriptions... pizza.... because our house at one time wsa converted to an apartment. It's been fully resored but even when it was an apt., it was the same address (there were only 2 units).
apartment or home should still show up as residential with the post office codes Scammers could use a pay phone since it is a legitimate number, and would just ring, and ring if anybody calls to check People in prison don't usually apply for credit, if they do, the phone number they give is a red flag to creditor
You know, the most hilarious part of this... if my address doesn't exist, then HOW did they send me this notice to said address? LOL

"You address is a non-residential address", then goes on to say that my address is a "general building contractor".Ask then where they got this idea?
Good suggestion LB and I'd really like to but if I call them and ask, won't they use it to their advantage and extend out my ongoing investigation another 15 days?
