I disputed two paid charge offs with EX. The first because of NA under Terms and Monthly Payments and multiple charge off dates. And had a status of charge off and past due. The second because is shows no high balance, no terms and no credit limit/original amount. They also had the balance wrong-should have been 0. Mutliple charge off dates. Also disputed a closed retail account that they say that the account was reported a month before it was opened ie opened 5/95, reported 4/95? And also because it had no high balance and no terms. This was their response: -Paid off accounts can no longer have a credit limit/original amount. -They did not address the issue of not having a high balance -And for the retail account, they said "They reported 4 months worth of history 4/95-8/95. Yours fell within that time frame. WTH?!?!?!?!?!? I wrote a stronger letter the next time: If paid accounts can no longer have a credit limit/original amount, how come the other (charge off) account has one? And so does the retail account and another charge off does too? I simply blasted them about an account being reported before it was open, they still have not corrected it nor investigated it. I also blasted them about deleting three accounts for no reason. And a retail jeweler account I disputed because it is closed, not open. They did not investigate it either, they just out under the Consumer Statement section ' Account closed by consumer' but under status it still says OPEN/NEVER LATE. They say the creditor did not report the account as closed. **Their responses thus far have been "We believe we could best answer your questions over the phone" and "If you need additional info that is not included on your report about an item, please contact the the credit grantor". The first charge off is the only account under investigation (I guess because of the incorrect balance). I thought that I was guranteed a complete and accurate report. I could scream.
Tell them that you want the answers to your questions in WRITING or they will have to answer those questions to a JUDGE. Remind them that "COMPLETE AND ACCURATE" is the standard they must follow. Take it from Citi in their small print regarding the fact that phone calls 'may not protect your rights'. Mist
Mist, Thank you for your support. I thought that I was shooting in the dark. I know I am eccentric at times
