I have an old student loan (claim filed with government in 1996) I've been trying to get off my report. It's listed as currently past due/delinquent - but it has a 0 balance! I called Experian to see if they would at least change it to a Paid closed account even if they include that it was past due. They admitted that the account should not be reported as currently delinquent, but since I already had disputed it twice before they state that they can no longer dispute it. She said that the law only requires them to dispute it twice even if there is new information.. What The F??? Any advice on what my next step should be? Thanks!
Yeah. been there, done that. Nice job on the LIE, Ms. Experian rep, ... whats this law that says "we only have to dispute items twice"? Wait a month or so and then dispute again. If you disputed via MAIL last time, do it ONLINE next time and vice versa. I had the same problem with Experian. Got the response, "Already investigated" slam, sorry, see ya. Waited a month or so (disputed other items in the meantime) then disputed the exact same item, and the exact same reason...came back deleted. Persistence is the key. -Peace, Dave
Thanks for the info.. It's just so ridiculous. It shows that they last time they investigated this item was 5/2001. It's due to come of at the end of the year, but we are planning to apply for a mortgage loan within the next couple of months.. Oh welll.. just another day with the ongoing battle..
