Hi all - I am having the toughest time with Experian. I have had luck with Trans Union & Equifax deleting collection accounts & such but when I try online with Experian I keep getting a message that "this item has already been investigated" - so I guess they will not investigate again like the other agencies? I have tried written, certified mail requests for re-investigations which have gone completely ignored. Can anyone offer me some Experian advice! Thanks!!
A few quick questions here: When you request a "re-investigation" are you disputing for the same reason? Are subsequent disputes for different reasons? The on-line system will check if it is the same "reason" for dispute, as a previous dispute. So, it will not accept a "duplicate" dispute (though sometimes it does!). You may try disputing over the phone, if you haven't tried that yet, but be prepared to have a different dispute reason. The CSR will enter a "category" reason based upon your description of the issue. In the past I found Experians' CSRs pretty quick to enter disputes, so give it a try. If Experian is ignorning written requests, and you have evidence w/CMRRR cards, then you may want to call and speak to a supervisor. Experian MUST respond, even to say your dispute is "frivilous", and will not be investigated. Also, if you are requesting a "re-investigation" of a verified dispute, are you providing any further documentation or evidence for your dispute reason? PArt of the requirements for a re-investigation are providing additional supporting documentation. This may a case of terminology here, re-investigation is something different than another dipsute. A few more details may help here. Lastly, if Experian did ignore written requests, and you did provide more evidence, then prepare your mind for a suit against Experian.
Biz wiz always gives excellant advice! I would definitly try his advice first. I just wanted to comment since I have experienced this issue with Experian refusing to reinvestigate an item. I eventually had to file a complaint with the FTC againest them. A couple of weeks later the accounts were updated correctly. I can't say this will work in every situation but it worked for me. Good luck! Tegleg
