I own a small remodeling business here in NY. Since my mother owns a large house and has the extra room I use her address for my company mailing address since I have an office in her house. Well when recently checking her CR from EXP the have her address listed as "Note: This is a Non-Residential address". Well let's see this has always been a home since the house was built over 40 years ago. She in no way is listed on any of my business dealings. I have fired off a dispute letter to EXP, now I just have to see if they remove it. Maybe she should apply for some CC and hope they get denied because they think she lives in a warehouse!!!!!

We recently bought a building for our business and that address shows up as our current and also is listed as non-residential.

I haven't really worried about it, but now I'm curious -- does this harm our credit in any way?

I am not sure if it harms you or not. But I just want it off the CR. It is inaccurate information. I will wait and see if they delete it and if the score changes at all with it gone.

It will not affect your score. I had a ton of incorrect address that I was able to get deleted but my score did not change.

    Re: Re: Experian Stikes Again

Hi all. I thought I would pull this thread up as I was conducting a search on address change information.

Hopefully someone knows how to handle this:

I just changed my address on Exp. from my actual address to my mailbox. (Not a P.O. Box). I just looked online, and it says at the bottom that the address could be a "High-Risk" because it is not a physical address. It goes on to say that it is actually a mail service address. If I would have known tht, I would have just left the other address on the report (that had mistakes and several entries with variations of the same address). Now, I am not sure what to do!

    Please help! Thanks!

I should add that the mailbox address I changed it to is not a Post Office box, but it is a Mailbox Etc. type of place. It looks like Exp has a system where they can tell as soon as they type the address in whether or not it is a phisical home or not.

    What can/should I do?

I just did not want my physical address on there for whoever to see... Plus, from reading info on the board, I though it wold be best to delete most old addresses, which is what I did.

Should I wait a while, then call back and have them add my physical address?

    I appreciate all help!

    Thank you in advance!

They have the same notation on my residence - that it is not a residential address. For a CRA that can't get my Date Of Birth right within 20 years I wouldn't get too upset if they can't tell the difference between a house and a Nuclear Power Plant.

I too am fighting to get my addresses straight. TU was easy through online dispute. EX and EQ both don't answer their phones so I can dispute. I will have to write letters I guess because my reports are > 3 months old and the silly codes are too old for online dispute!

    suggestions?

Whether or not your address is listed as residential or non residential does not affect your score but it can affect your chances of obtaining credit at that address. Many companies will not open accounts at addresses that are "not residential" yet are listed as home address on the credit app. This is one of their fraud flags.

    Thanks for that info, Robin.

I usually use my physical address on credit applications. So, I guess I need to call back and have them put back on there my physical address, maybe? I wonder if there is a point deduction for me to change my address twice in one week. Maybe I should just leave it as is for now, and change it in a couple of months.

    nomocash,

For me, I called Experian, and since I already had a recent credit report, I entered that credit report number when the system prompted me to, and each time I did that, someone answered right away with very little if any hold time. It seems that having your credit report already puts you at the top of the que in line.

I was able to add/delete addresses right over the phone.

    I hope this helps.

****edited to add that I just realized, nomocash, that you mentioned your reports are three months old. :-( They are probably too old to enter into the phone system now, but maybe when you get another Experian report, you can use that report number, and try what worked for me.

I plan on sending letters to correct information, that way I get a new report too :)
